Haddam Neck Native Passes Away at Hartford Home
Henry Fisk Brainerd, 67, of 249 Collins Street, Hartford, director of branches for the Hartford district of the Royal Typewriter Co., died Sunday night at his home after a five weeks' illness. He was well known in eastern Connecticut. He joined the Royal in 1914 in a sales capacity at the Hartford office and was promoted the same year to the managership of the Waterbury office. He spent the greater part of his business career in Hartford, however. Before becoming connected with the Royal, he had been in the encyclopedia sales business with his father. Mr. Brainerd was born in Haddam Neck, Nov. 19, 1871, son of the late Henry Lawrence Brainerd and Adeline Gillette Brainerd. He was a member of St. John's lodge A & M and the United Commercial Travelers. He leaves a son, Wilson Gillette Brainerd of Hartford, a daughter, Mrs. Charles B. Cook, Jr., a granddaughter, Roxanne Cook, both of West Hartford, three brothers, Harvey G. Brainerd of Haddam Neck, Addison G. Brainerd of Hartford, vice president of the Hartford National bank and David E. Brainerd of Chicago.
