Walter Meyer of Granville, formerly a resident of Florid, passed away at the Spring Valley hospital August 2, following an operation for appendicitis. He was taken ill several days before his unexpected death with appendicitis and an operation was deemed necessary. Shortly after the operation infection set in and he soon yielded to its power. He was born in Florid, January 1, 1908 to Mr. and Mrs. Herman Meyer. To mourn his sudden departure are his parents and three sisters. One sister Emma, wife of Chester Morine of Hennepin preceded him a year ago in death. Funeral services were held from his home in Granville, with Rev. Barstead a former pastor of Florid church officiating. Six John Hopkins school comrades were Pallbearers. Interment took place in Granville.

Errata: Obituary should likely read, "Hopkins school," not "John Hopkins school." He was more likely to have been a student of Hopkins Township High School, in Granville, Illinois, in which town he resided.
