Born in Marlboro County, he was a son of Ottis Parrish and the late Sally Spears Parrish.
Surviving are his father of Bennettsville; two sons John Vernon Parrish Jr. of Columbia and Thomas R. Parrish of Bennettsville; a daughter, Miss Vanetta Dean Parrish of Bennettsville; two brothers, Lawrence S. Parrish of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Charles Parrish of Fayetteville, N.C.; and four sisters, Mrs. Gladys Tomlinson of Florida, Mrs. Sarah Overton of Fayettesville, Mrs. Ruth Piner of Michigan and Mrs. Frances Crumpler of Dunn, N.C.
Services will be at 4:30 p.m. today in Whitmer Funeral Home with burial in Spears Family Cemetery.
