RECORD OF DEATHS
DR ALEX. J. BOWSER
After being confined to the house for about six weeks, Dr. Alexander J. Bowser died suddenly Wednesday morning at 4 o'clock, of heart failure; aged 43 years, four months and 15 days.
Dr. Bowser was the only son of David and Charlotte Bowser and was born near Schellsburg, November 11, 1862. His parents afterward moved to Schellsburg where he received his education under Prof. W.R. Vaughn, a once-famous teacher of the county.
In his early manhood he read medicine with Dr. Frank M. Marbourg and took a course at the University of Pennsylvania from which he graduated in the class of '00. He practiced medicine in Schellsburg and New Baltimore, coming to Bedford about three years ago.
He was twice married, first to Miss Lonie Mock, of Fishertown, in 1882, who died the following year. His second union was with Miss Mame Amick, about 12 years ago. She with two small children survives.
The funeral services will be held at the home this morning at 10 o'clock and will be conducted by his pastor, Rev. M.L. Culler, of Trinity Lutheran Church, after which the remains will be taken to St. Clairsville for interment.
Dr. Bowser was a successful physician and a true friend and exerted an influence for good upon those with whom he came in contact. As an athlete he won laurels for his alma mater as centre of the famous football teams of '88 and '89. He held the intercollegiate record for throwing the hammer for one year and won medals for putting the shot. He will be missed from the medicial profession and by a host of friends who deeply sympathize with the bereaved family who suffer the greatest loss.
