Harold A. Gross, 72, of 1298 Old Rock City Road, Olean, NY., passed away Saturday (Nov. 7, 2009) at The Wellsville Manor.
He was born on Sept. 6, 1937, in Portville, NY., the son of Harrison Allen and Irene Elizabeth Letson Gross. On May 25, 1974 in St. Andrews Methodist Church, in Westons Mills, NY., he married his wife of 35 years, Denise Foltz, who survives.
He attended Allegany High School and served in the U.S. Air Force from Dec. 28, 1955 until Sept. 24, 1957.
He began working at Clark Brothers in Olean and retired 42 years later in 1999. He worked in the foundry and shipping departments.
He was a member of the Pulaski Club, St. Stephens club a former member of the Olean VFW and the Eagles Club. He enjoyed building model airplanes and was a WW II buff.
Surviving besides his wife are two sons, David Allen Gross of Clarksville, TN., and Harold Allen (Tracy) Gross of Big Bear, CA.; two daughters, Laura K. Stringer of Allegany, and Kelly A. (Robert) Williams of Winston-Salem, NC.; and four grandchildren, Joseph Smith, Bonnie Smith, Sydney Stringer and Grace Kathleen Gross.
He was predeceased by two brothers, an infant brother Larry Gross and Herbert Gross; and one sister, Barbara Senyk.
