Tom Roby Cornwell (1926 - 2012)

Tom Roby Cornwell, 86, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle, passed away Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at his home in Bedford following a lengthy illness. His wife Anne was by his side. Funeral: 11 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church of Hurst. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home.

Tom was born Jan. 4, 1926, in Lake Worth. After active service in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and being stationed in Germany directly after the war, he returned to Texas where he met his wife of 64 years, Annex Hudgins of Fort Worth. They raised a family of two boys and one daughter. Tom and Anne lived in several cities throughout the U.S. before settling in Bedford in the early 1980s. His passions were his family and tennis. He will be greatly missed by both. We always said Tom would die on the tennis court. Though that was not the case, he did retire from tennis after breaking his hip on the tennis court. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Hurst, had many close friends, and was relished his neighbors and community. Tom will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched. He will be met at the gates of his next chapter by his daughter, Patricia; his mother; all his brothers; several sisters; and many close friends.

Survivors: Wife, Anne; sons, Larry and David; six grandchildren, Wesley Hines, T.J. Hines, Chaysen Cornwell Wischnewsky, Cori Cornwell, Ashley Cornwell Baum and Austin Cornwell; sister, Mary Bell; and four great-grandchildren.
