He married Rosanna Maria Black and fathered Ellen R. (b. 02/15/56 - married Thaddeus S. Kautz), Sarah A. (b. 06/23/57, d. 06/28/70), Aaron (b. 06/14/59), Alfred A. (b. 09/03/62, d. 03/04/69), Harry Luther. (b. 08/06/68 - eight years old in the 1870 census but twelve in 1880), Prosper Dalien (b. 03/06/66 but is ten in the 1870 census and presumably named for Alfred's captain in his second term of military service), William David (b. 12/14/70), and Lucy (b. @1873).

A Civil War veteran, he served two terms of service:
1. Drafted in Lebanon County October 23, 1862, oddly understating his age by one year (if the above birth year is correct), mustered into federal service at Harrisburg October 29 as a corporal with Co. C, 173rd Pennsylvania Infantry (aka "Drafted Militia"), and honorably discharged with his company August 17, 1863.
2. Enlisted in Harrisburg (no age listed) September 3, 1864, mustered into federal service there September 9 as 2nd lieutenant of Co. C, 208th Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company June 1, 1865, at Alexandria, Virginia.

By 1870, he was living with his family in Marysville, Perry County, where he died from "chronic diarrhea with general debility" with "paralysis" as a contributing factor. February 5 is also reported to be his birthday, but the death certificate date is used here.

Unknown obituary:
Alfred Corl, age 72 years, passed away in Marysville following ill health for a number of years.
He was born in Lebanon County, Pa. where he married his wife Rosanna, and settled in North Annville Township, Lebanon County, Pa. He entered the war leaving Rosanna and three children, Ellen, Aaron and Sara in Annville Twp. He was a member of he Company F, 173rd, Pennsylvania Vol. He entered October 29th, 1862 and discharged on August 17th, 1863. It is unknown what he did but he reenlisted on September 9, 1864 and was then discharged on June 3rd, 1865. During the time between enlistments another son was born, Alfred A. Corl.
He saw action in the battles around Petersburg, Virginia and lost his Company Commander, Capt. Prosper Dalien in the retaking of Ft. Steadman [now spelled "Stedman"].
Upon his discharge with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant, he moved his wife and four children to Marysville, Perry County, Pa. apparently to work on the railroad. He found a job as a car inspector with the Northern Central Railroad. The Northern Central was building a rail yard in Marysville at the time.
Alfred wasn't idle in his days. He with other families in Marysville founded Zion Lutheran Church.
Tragedy struck the Corl family in 1869 and 1870. In 1869 Alfred A. Corl died of unknown causes. In 1870 Sara Corl age 13 was sleeping in bed on a June night during a thunder storm. Lightning struck the peak of the roof and traveled through the wall and entered her bed, going through Sara. From the news story in the Harrisburg Telegraph she lasted about four hours before passing away.
It wasn't all tragedy though, since Prosper Dalien Corl and Harry Luther Corl were born before 1870.
Little is known about how Alfred lived during his middle years in Marysville.
He did make the news for a few things. He had a pet groundhog under his summer kitchen which he fed on occasion. The neighbors and Alfred watched for the pet when he hibernated in November. They say "Bob" in may and it made the papers. He was "a little thin but none the worse for ware."
Alfred lived until 1906 and was in ill health the last few years. Surviving were William David Corl, born in 1872, the only one that stayed in Marysville. Harry Luther, of Harrisburg (my great-grandfather) Aaron of Steelton, Ellen Corl Kautz of Hummelstown. He was predeceased by his wife, Rosanna, who died in 1895, Alfred and Sara who died in 1869 and 1870, Prosper Dalien Corl who died in 1888, and Lucy Corl Prom Try, who died in 1906 or 7.
In his will he left an extra $50 dollars to Lucy when he wrote it in 1904 because she stayed at home and took care of Alfred during his illness. It was discovered that she died in Lynch Station, Virginia. So her share of the estate was put in trust to Harrisburg Trust Company until her two young daughters reached the age of majority or got married.
Alfred led a Christian Life and was active in the Zion Lutheran Church. It is said that one of the stained glass windows was bought by him and carries his and Rosanna's name.
He was the founder of one branch of Corls in the Harrisburg Area. There are other Corls in the Harrisburg Cemeteries.
