Ivan Colman Millhollin, Canon City, died on June 29, 2011, in San Antonio, Texas. Ivan was born on Feb. 18, 1929, in Syracuse, Kan., the youngest of eight children. He attended Canon City schools and joined the U.S. Army close to the end of WWII, later joining and serving in the U. S. Marine Corps and U. S. Air Force, obtaining the rank of Captain. He graduated college in Superior, Wis., with a degree in education. He began teaching school in Modesto, Calif., later transferring to Santa Maria, Calif., where he taught all grades and was principal of Junior High School upon retirement. His oldest daughter, Susan Dee Millhollin King of Plano, Texas, preceded him in death. His youngest daughter, Carol Lee Millhollin Lyles(Damon) of San Antonio, Texas, sister Maudie Oliver of Canon City, son-in-law Brian King of Plano, Texas, five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, survive him. Ivan enjoyed reading, traveling, story telling and gathering for coffee with his many friends in Canon City. A Celebration of Life service will be scheduled at a later date.
