Martha Lane Dovell, widow of Ashton Dovell, former speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates, died Thursday in Westminster-Canterbury Center in Virginia Beach. She was 95.
Mrs. Dovell had been a lifelong resident of Williamsburg until she moved to Virginia Beach several years ago. She was a member of Bruton Parish Church. A charter member and past president of the Garden Club of Williamsburg and served on the board of the Garden Club of Virginia for many years.
She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Vernon M. Geddy of Williamsburg, Mrs. Kenneth W. Close of Courtland and Mrs. Joseph C. Toth of Virginia Beach.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Williamsburg.
