Patsy Colleen Moyer, age 89, died on Saturday, March 31 at Geary Community Hospital. She had been a resident of Valley View Senior Care Center since November 2013. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 7, at 10:30 a.m. at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 203 N. Washington Street in Junction City. It will be preceded by a visitation at 9:30 a.m. The burial of remains will follow at Skiddy Cemetery.

Patsy was born on May 24, 1928 to John and Violet (Hanney) Ross in rural Geary County. She had two siblings, a sister, Dorothy, and a brother, Robert who died in infancy. She attended school in Geary and Dickinson County and graduated from Chapman High School in 1946.

She married Leonard Moyer on March 2, 1947 and had two children, Donna Elaine and John David. Along with her son and husband, she owned and operated a family farm along Clarks Creek in southern Geary County for most of her adult life. She also served as a school bus driver for USD 475 and JC Transportation for many years.

She was a kind, gentle natured woman whose first love was spending time with her family. She also loved to be outside, tending to her yard and flower beds and watching the birds and other animals.

In addition to her brother, Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son-in-law Gary Bain. She is survived by her sister Dorothy Carlyon and husband John, her daughter Donna, her son John and wife Susan, her grandchildren David Bain and wife Andrea and Jarrod Bain and wife Gretchen and three great grandchildren, Derek, Adam Bain and Jordyn Bain. Other survivors include nephew John Scott Carlyon and wife Ardena and their children Michele, Mike and wife Marissa (children Mika and Chloe), and Andrew and one niece, Robin Carlyon Sayler and husband Skip and their children Anthony and wife Amanda, and Amira and husband Randy, and Cynthia Carlyon. Great nieces Jessie and Morgan Sayler and Graham Williams also survive.
