The Bulloch County native was a veteran of the
U. S. Army, in which he received an Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon, Victory Ribbon and an Overseas Service Bar. Mr. Woodcock lived in Savannah and Forest Park, Georgia for many years, until retiring from American Can in 1976, and returning to Bulloch County.
He was a member of the Forest Park Baptist Church and attended the Friendship Baptist Church in Statesboro. Mr. Woodcock was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kelli Woodcock.
Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Elizabeth Brown Woodcock of Statesboro; three sons and two daughters in law, Thomas Gary Woodcock of Savannah, Freddy Lamar and Glynda Woodcock of Newnan and Charles "Chuck" and Helen Woodcock of Ellabell; a sister, Rita McDaniel of Statesboro; six grandsons, two granddaughters and nine great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Osborne and Rev. James Barnes officiating. The body will lie-in-state one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandchildren.
