Harold R. Beadle

Middletown - Harold R. Beadle, age 87, Middletown, formerly of Wiconisco, passed away peacefully Saturday May 12, 2007 at 11:30 A.M. at Frey Village, Middletown.

He was a 1938 graduate of Wiconisco High School where he served as manager of the baseball and basketball teams. In 1939 he worked as a page for the Pennsylvania Stat Senate and retired from the Federal Government as a Financial Advisor in 1974 after 33+ years of service.

He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Wiconisco, since 1937; a former member of Wiconisco Fire Co.; a charter life member and had also served as First Vice President of Londonderry Fire Co. No. 1; as a member of American Legion Post No. 124, Lykens for 64 years and served as Second Vice Commander and a charter member of the World War 2 Memorial, Washington, D.C. He was a disabled Army Veteran of World War 2, having served with Company E, 313th Infantry, 79th Division. He was a great Penn State and Philadelphia Phillies fan.

Mr. Beadle was born in Lykens, December 4, 1919, son of the late William Watson Hunter Beadle and Laura Francis Myers Beadle. He was also preceded in death by his wife Laura in 1998 to whom he had been married for 50 years; 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Harold is survived by 2 daughters: Carol Hoover, Aspers, PA, and Judy Nellis and her husband Gary Sr., Stafford, VA.; 2 grandsons, Shawn Hoover and Gary Nellis Jr.; and 4 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday May 16th at the John R. Shultz Funeral Home, 406 Market St., Lykens, with Pastor Fred Rudy officiating.

Viewing will be from 12 Noon until the time of the service Wednesday at the Funeral Home.

Interment with Memorial Services by Londonderry Fire Co. No. 1, at Calvary United Methodist Cemetery, Wiconisco.
