Born Oct. 8, 1916, in Mooresville, he was the son of James and Nettie Theo Larison Thompson.
He was co-owner of Thompson's Garage in Mooresville for 48 years, retiring in 1989. He was also a member of the former Mooresville Lodge of Independent Order Odd Fellows.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Dillinger Thompson, Mooresville; one son, Michael Thompson, and one daughter, Carol Griffith, both of Mooresville; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Carlisle & Son Funeral Chapel. Calling is from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel. Burial will follow at White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville.
