Daughter of Ezekial and Joan Ricker; wife of William Libby; married at Somersworth, New Hampshire, in 1855. Mother of: Mrs. Mabel Lovejoy of Superior, Mrs. E. J. Fisher [Gertrude Emily Libby Fischer b. May 25, 1875 and d. April 16, 1964] of Eagle Grove, Ia., and three sons, I. A., and E. H. business men of this city and W. E. of Idaho; one son, Frank, died in infancy.
OBITUARY
[Julia Ann Ricker Libby]
Mrs. Julia Libby passed away at 11:40 o'clock Sunday morning, at the home of her daughter, Mrs Mabel Lovejoy, in the 94th year of her age.
Growing to young womanhood at Somersworth, N.H., February 5, 1855, she was united in marriage to Mr. William Libby. A month after their marriage they came west to make a start in life, locating in Evansville, where, with the exception of a few years, they have made their home. Mr. Libby departed this life June 2, 1906.
Mrs.Libby was a woman ever interested in social and civic affairs and always kept in close touch with what was going on in the world, being an enthusiastic American, who believed in and loved her country. While in the eighties during the World War she worked constantly knitting socks for the soldier boys and doing everything she could to win the war. Mrs. Libby was universally respected and loved by those who knew her, o account of her fairness and broad-mindedness, being always willing to concede the fact other people had the right to different opinions from what she believed to be right.
Four children will mourn her loss, Mayor E. H. Libby, and Mrs. Mabel Lovejoy, of this city, Earnest[Ernest] Libby of Post Falls, Idaho, and Mrs. Gertrude Fischer[Fischer] of West Bend[Bend]. Oregon, along with none grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
The funeral services will be held at the Lovejoy home this afternoon at 2:00 o'clock,
Rev. Wolf, of the Free Methodist Church, officiating.
