Betty Lou Bugbee, 80, formerly of Erie and Moline, died Monday, January 9, 2012 at the Hillcrest Home, Geneseo, where she had been a resident. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, January 13th at Gibson Funeral Home, Erie, with visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow in the Erie Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Jim Bugbee Memorial Scholarship Fund, Erie High School. Betty Lou Putt was born May 12, 1931 in Moline, IL, the daughter of Lewis and Rose (Downing) Putt. She married James Bugbee on December 2, 1956 in Moline, IL. The couple owned and operated Bugbee Florists and Garden Center in Erie for over 30 years. Betty was a member of the Erie United Methodist Church until moving to Moline. She then joined the Union Congregational Church UCC, Moline, where she served as a Deacon. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Stuart and Brenda Bugbee, Bethany, MO; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Rick Stearns, Sherrard, IL; grandchildren, Ashley Bugbee, Alyssa Bugbee, Halley Stearns and Fallon Stearns; brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Vivian Putt, Clayton, NC; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wayne and Sandy Bugbee, Bethany, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James, and a brother, Robert in infancy.
