BRANDON, S.D., Oct. 28 -- Mrs. Emelia Peterson, pioneer resident of this area, died in her home here yesterday at the age of 91 [92]. Funeral services, still pending, will be held in the Beaver Valley Church with burial in the Beaver Valley Cemetery. She was born Nov. 26, 1863 [1862], in Sweden and came to the United States with her family when she was five. At the age of 9, she, with her parents and brother, came to South Dakota. The deceased married Olaf Peterson, Nov. 20, 1880. They lived on a homestead near Valley Springs for 30 years, with the exception of two years spent at Rockford, Ill. He died in 1934. Mrs. Peterson is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Julia Bonander of Valley Springs, Mrs. Martin Burkman of Garretson, and Mrs. Alf Jacobson of Brandon; and four grandchildren.

Services for Mrs. Emelia Peterson, 91 [92], Brandon, will be held at the Beaver Valley Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. Monday. Prayer service will be held at the residence of Mrs. Peterson's daughter, Mrs. Alf Jacobson, at 1:30 p.m. The body will lie in state at the residence from this afternoon until the hour of the funeral. The Rev. David Davoux and the Rev. Milton Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in the Beaver Valley Church Cemetery. Miller Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
