She was born Sept. 18, 1921, in Richfield, Utah, a daughter of Archie Bert and Sarah Curtis Christensen.
She married Howard M. Johnson, Aug. 12, 1943, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They lived in Logan, Los Angeles, and Tremonton, moving to Ogden in 1955.
First appointed to the National Advisory Council on Women by President Gerald Ford in 1976, she served as advisor to Presidents Ford and Jimmy Carter.
She retired in 1983 as Weber School District student services director after 40 years of service in the educatinal arena. Her involvement included positions as teacher, counselor, and career education specialist.
She was a leader in career counseling and was honored as Utah counselor of the year in 1981. Additional honors included Roy Business and Professional Women's woman of the year, 1980, and Phi Delta Kappa's Ogden area educator of the year, 1984. She was also listed in Who's Who in the West.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Utah Textbook Commission.
She fostered the first annual Weber School District economics fair which has become a national model and local tadition.
Through her involvement in numberous human services programs, she played a role in the St. Benedict's Hospital adolescent drug and alcohol treatment project, Weber County Task Force for the Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse, executive committee of the Miss Wheelchair Utah Pageant and LDS Social Services Advisory Baord.
She served as president of the LDS Weber Heights Stake Relief Society, Stake Special Interest Leader and Sunday School teacher.
She was educated in Richfield and Provo.
She received a B.S. Debree in 1942 from Brigham Young University and an M.S. Degree in 1959 from Utah State University.
Surviving are three children, Ralph H. Johnson, Washington D.C.; Mrs. W. J. (Susan) Okroy, North Ogden, and Mrs. Mark (Linda) Marriott, South Ogden.
Also surviving are four brothers and one sister, Grant Christensen, Mesa, Ariz; Glenn Christensen, Salt Lake City; John Christensen, Grenada, West Indies; James Christensen, Mesa, Ariz; Mrs. LeRoi (Iva) Wall, Provo, and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services have been schedculed for Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Weber Heights Stake Center, 1401 Country Hills Drive, with Bishop James Dawson of the Ogden 34th Ward officiating.
Friends may call at the Ogden Myers Mortuary Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday at the stake center one hour prior to services.
Interment will be at Washington Heights Memorial Park.
