Annie was the daughter of Georgia natives Andrew Head (born circa 1857) and Louisa M. Stow(e) Head (born circa 1868,) who had married circa 1875. Mr. and Mrs. Head had (at least) the following children:

* Annie Head Bales (1887-1965,)
* John J. Head (1888-1958,)
* William J. Head (born circa 1889,)
* Nancy J. Head (born circa 1891,)
* Dedie (or Delie) Head (born circa 1894,)
* Tollie Head (1896-1970,) and
* Carrie Head (born circa 1898.)

She and Tom Bales married circa 1902. Their children were (or included:)
* Daisy Bales Brookshire (1903-1989,)
* James A. Bales (1907-1994,)
* Julius H. Bales (1910-1948,)
* Johnnie M. Bales (1918-1934,)
* William Jeff Bales (1924-2000,) and
