Margaret Bolling was born in Milan, Gibson County Tennessee to the Reverend Warner T Bolling and Mary E Coley (widow of R. N. Pearce). She thought she was born in Kentucky, because her family was in Boyd County, Kentucky 1880 where her mother died. Her father then married Willie Jeter, and being in the Methodist Episcopal Memphis Conference, had postings in West Virginia, Louisiana, Tennessee, Mississippi and Colorado so Margaret had siblings from all over the country.

She married Edward Hamilton Mullen 1898 in Columbus, Lowndes County Mississippi and they had two children: Warner T Mullen and Georgetta Mullen Culbertson.

By 1910 the family moved to Los Angeles, where Edward H Mullen died 1935 and Margaret 1948.

There are two memorials for Margaret's father, she is linked to what appears to be the correct one in Memphis, but there is a second memorial for him that shows him buried in Kentucky, 85228903, it is unknown if this is a completely erroneous entry or if there is perhaps a cenotaph for him there (as of November 2014 there is no marker photo posted for the memorial in Kentucky).
