Doris Margaret McKune, 101, Burbank, CA, died Dec. 10, 2011 at Harbor Care Center in Torrance, CA. She was born Feb. 23, 1910 in Sabetha, the daughter of Charles and Anna Maynard. She attended the local primary school and graduated from Sabetha H.S. in 1928. She married Gordon McKune, Falls City, NE, Dec. 25, 1940 and in Jan. 1941, she moved to CA where she lived with her husband for 53 years until his death in 1994. She has been active all her life in social and church communities and will be missed in those circles.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; four brothers, Cliff, Harold, Nick, and Robert Maynard; tow sisters, Helen Meisner and Mary Bolejack. She is survived by a nephew, Charles Meisner, Sabetha; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Schmidt and Gladys Hatfield both of Russell, and niews and nephews.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Dec. 30, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sabetha. Interment will be made in the Sabetha Cemetery. Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha is in charge of arrangments.
