Dennis A.Blake,40,of Sloan,died Thursday,March 11,at a Sioux City Hospital.Services will be 2p.m.Monday at Skien Lutheran Church in rural Sloan,with Rev.Barb Spqulding officiating.Burial in Fairview Cemetery.Dennis was born Nov.29,1963 in Sioux City,son Glenn & Ruth(Boettcher)Blake.He graduated from West High School in 1982 and from Northwestern College of Orange City in 1988.He was member of 1982 City Champions in Baskeyball at West High School and selected All Northwest Iowa in baseball the same year.Member of Northwestern College Championship footbal team in 1983.He married Patti M.Andrew-Tyer on July 1,1995 at Skien Lutheran Church in Sloan.Dennis was a teacher at West High School,teaching history and social studies.He coached football and basketball at West High from 1987-2003.He was head varsity football coach at Westwood High School of Sloan.Member of Skien Lutheran Church,Football Coaches Association.Loved sports of all kinds,was an avid fan of Oakland Raiders the Boston Red Sox.He enjoyed camping as well as reading and studying the Civil War years and World War II.Survivors include his beloved wife Patti;daughter Kalli;two brothers,Larry & Kathy,James & Jill;sister,Janice & Roger Scheffer;inlaws,Marlene & Norman Westergaard;nieces and nephews;great nieces and nephews;brother-in-laws,Kris Westergaard,Mike Andrew & Tracy;three sister-in-laws,Nancy & Juan Hernandez,Debbie Griffith,Marcia & Jay Erickson.He preceded in death by two brothers,Ricky and Steven;grandparents,Grace & Art Boettcher,Edith & William Blake.
