Obituary

Emery B. Ackerman was born at Poynett, Wisconsin, February 10, 1864. He grew to young manhood near Lodi, Wisconsin. In 1879 he with his parents moved to western Kansas where he and his father each homesteaded. He lived here the remainder of his life. On December 31, 1888 he was united in marriage with Mrs. Mary F. Terry. To this union were born seven children. The wife and six children survive him. One daughter, Mrs. Iva Harrah of Jamesport, Missouri passed away five years ago. The remaining children are, Warren of Stratton, Colorado, Mrs. Flossie Melstrom of Goodland, Henry of Wauneta, Nebraska, Frank, Robert and Rolla at home.

Besides his family he leaves one sister, Mrs. A. A. Lister of Burns, Kansas, also five grandchildren to mourn his departure.

Mr. Ackerman had been ill for a long time but was not considered serious until about two weeks before his demise. He departed this life at the Goodland Methodist Hospital on September 9, 1923 at the age of 59 years, 6 months and 29 days.

Services were conducted at the home on September 11, by Rev. M. R. Starbuck and the remains laid to rest in the Muldrow cemetery.
