Lucy ''Ludie'' Law was born on 30 May 1910 in Surry County, NC. Ludie had a twin sister, Eva Elizabeth. Their mother, Martha "Mattie" Law, died four months after the twins' birth, leaving their father, Thomas "Tom" Johnson with 4 children to raise. She was adopted and raised by Gideon ''Gid'' Law (her biological uncle) and his wife, Lucy Frances Hiatt.
Ludie married Buell Arrington 17 January, 1931. She gave birth to 11 children, no small feat for any woman. Two of her children died before their 1st birthday. She and Buell raised the surviving 9 children in Surry County, NC
"Ludie" died 28 February, 1990, at the age of 79. She is buried in Woodville Baptist Cemetery in Surry County, NC with her husband, Buell and children Kenneth Lindo, Gwenda V. and Zelda Vernell and sister, Velva Johnson Gammons.
