MAN DIES SOON AFTER RETURN FROM HUNTING

Ruland E Vosburgh Was Stricken with Heart Attack at home.

Widely Known as a farmer, Ruland E Vosburgh, aged 78, one of the best known farmers of this region died unexpectedly Saturday night at his home on the Church Run road in Oil Creek township after an illness of only an hour or so. Death was due to acute coronary thrombosis. Mr Vosburgh was a particularly active man in spite of his advanced years and had spent much time this fall hunting over the nearby country-side He was out deer hunting all day Friday and again on Saturday although he did a minimum of walking. When he returned from hunting a little before dusk Saturday evening accompanied by his son John who had come on from Akron for the purpose, Mr. Vosburgh gave no sign of not feeling well but he had been home only a short time before he called to his son that he was ill and asked that a doctor be sent for Mr Vosburgh was put to bed immediately and a physician summoned. The patient died about three quarters of an hour after the doctor's arrival. The deceased had spent the greater part of his life in Rome and Oil Creek townships before settling on the farm where he died. 43 years ago he was an oil field worker in Kentucky and other states. He was a son of Jeremiah and Mary Knapp Vosburgh and was born in Rome township. He was married on March 31 1886 to Mary C. Alcorn who died about two years ago. On the occasion of their fiftieth wedding anniversary in 1936 there had not been a break in the family circle. Warren Vosburgh, a son, died that year. The following children survive: Grace who lived with her father, Harry and Clyde of Oil Creek, John of Akron, and Mrs H M Jones of Oil City. Mr Vosburgh, who was the last of his family, had been a member of the Bethel Methodist church for 38 years. The deceased possessed splendid qualities of heart and mind and was active in good works in his community. Because of his exemplary habits he did not betray his 78 years and the community had reason to expect from him several more years of usefulness. His death will be generally regretted. Services will be held at the late residence at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon and interment will be in the Union cemetery. Rev C C Cross, pastor of the Wesleyan Methodist church at Sandy Lake a lifelong friend of the family will officiate.
