Husband of Cleta May Waite-Agnessen (1911 - 1948)... twice. They divorced in 1966 (She filed.) News articles of the day say that they reconciled and remarried later in their relationship, News reports vary. no record to the 2nd marriage appears to support the prevailing reports.
News articles state that in 1948, after their remarriage, they were out on the town at a drinking establishment, and arguing over news that she intended to file for divorce again.
The argument carried onto the street where he shot her three times in the chest and killed her. He then reportedly shot himself in the head. However .... In 1949 he was convicted of 2nd degree murder, in the death of his wife, 15 Dec 1948, Davenport, Iowa. In 1949 he is sentenced to a max. 30 years of confinement and imprisoned at the "Men's Penitentiary at Fort Madison", Iowa.
He is noted in the prison record as being of 'temperate behavior', and is transferred to a less restrictive facility in 1951, and paroled "at the age of 44" after 8 years of imprisonment.
In Sep 1971, there are reports of his 'suicide', and reports that he was not expected to survive. He died 15 Sep 1971, in his trailer home, by gunshot to the head.
His wife at that time is said to be Margaret Ruth Henderson, (but I could not identify any formal relationship.) Reported as "Age 58 y 8m 6 d".
