Mrs. Irene Barnes Lanier, 87, died Saturday at East Georgia Regional Medical Center. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was a farmer and homemaker.

She was of the Primitive Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Lanier; three brothers, Remer Barnes, Pierce Barnes and Wesley Barnes; one grandson, Rob Williams.

Surviving are: three daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara L. and Lemuel Crosby of Claxton, Rebecca L. and Robert Williams of Statesboro, and Patsy L. and Joe Wiggins of Statesboro; one sister, Esther Best of Statesboro; five grandchildren and a granddaughter-in-law, Mitchell Nobles (Roxanne), LuRene Nobles and her fiancé Adam Cochran, Christopher (Marion) Williams, Jill Williams, Jenny (Lee) Royal and Jody (J.J.) Wiggins; 11 great grandchildren, Sam, Danielle, Meredith and Isabella Nobles, Cate, Garrett, Allie, Marlee and Bella Williams, Josie Beth Royal and Chase Claude Wiggins; special caregivers Anna Devine and Lynn Waldean.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Elder Jack Anderson officiating.

Burial will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.

Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
