ALTON, JAMES EARL "JIM"
A retired planner with Allied
Chemical, he died Sunday, July 20,2003,
along with his wife, Nancy Lilly Alton,
as a result of a motorcycle accident. He
was 58, a resident of Geismar and a
native of Parkersburg, W.Va. He was a
U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.
Visiting was at Welsh Funeral Home,
Gonzales, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Thursday. Visiting was at St. Theresa of
" Avila Catholic Church from 9:45 a.m. __
until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30
a.m. Friday, celebrated by the Rev. Phil
Spano. Interment was in Cornerview
Cemetery. He is survived by a daughter,
Melissa Jones Nulton; two sons and a
daughter-in-law, Kelley and Angela
Alton, and Kenny Alton; a sister, Ann
Lerch and husband Jim; a brother, Steve
Carnes^two. stepdaughters, Kattverine:^
Poche, and Karen and husband Martin
Tajra; five grandchildren, Miakiah Dean
Alton, Ryan Dean Alton, Jennifer Rose
Alton, Kendra Roseann Alton and
Katlyn Rose Alton; and a stepgrandson,
Kody Hickok. He was preceded in death
by his mother. Bertha Alton. He was
director of the Baton Rouge Chapter of
Harley Owners Group and chairman of
the Ascension Parish Planning and
Zoning Commission. He will be greatly
missed by all who loved him.
