Her father was Zion Scarborough and her mother was Mary Scarborough nee Midgette.

Obituary:
Mrs. Margaret Etheridge Gray, 71, died Saturday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dempsey Perry, at Kill Devil Hills where she had made her home for the last 15 years. Mrs. Gray was a native of Avon and funeral services were conducted there Monday afternoon at two o'clock by Rev. J.D.A. Autry at the graveside in the Zion Scarborough Cemetery. Mrs. Gray was a member of the Avon Methodist Church. She is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Dempsey Perry of Kill Devil Hills and Mrs. Bertha Gray of Virginia Beach; two sons: Jesse Gray and Bate Gray of the U.S. Coast Guard; 20 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
