D. D. Bennett, Knoxville, TN, a former Gadsden resident, died yesterday in Knoxville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am tomorrow at Collier-Butler Chapel, Dr. Paul Duffy of Montgomery and Dr. Denson Franklin officiating. Burial will be in Forrest Cemetery. The body will remain at Collier-Butler Chapel through the hour of service.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Elvela Lee Bennett; two sons, Dan Bennett, Jr. and Alto Lee Bennett, both of Knoxville; a brother, Dick Bennett, Sr., Greenville; five sisters, Mrs. Will McGowan and Mrs. Rankin Tippins, both of Greenville; Mrs. Robert McCarty, Dothan; Mrs. Wallace Glover, Montgomery, and Mrs. Melville, CA.
He was a native of South Alabama. He attended the University of Alabama and formerly operated a store in Marion until his illness.
He is the son-in-law of Mrs. Alto V. Lee, Gadsden.
