Michael Brock was born near Pleasant Ridge, February 11th. 1826, died December 9th. 1904, aged seventy-eight years, nine months and twenty-eight days. The immediate cause of his death was paralysis. Mr. Brock lived in this township nearly all his life, and for many years has made his home with his son, Rev. F.M. Brock. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Stover, March 9, 1848, to this union were born nine children, six sons and three daughters who survive him are, Rev. Francis M. Brock, of this place; Albert J. Brock, of Orleans; Mrs. Mary A. Martin, of Martinsburg; James C. Brock, of New Albany; Mrs. Susan F. Cogswell, of Jeffersonville, and Michael C. Brock, of New Albany. He joined the Christian Church about fifty years ago and remained a faithful member until death, and was an officer of the church for many years. He was one of the few men who had no enemies, always having a pleasant word for everyone, and was highly respected by all who knew him. The funeral took place Sunday at Pleasant Ridge church, conducted by Rev. F.E. Andrews, of Jeffersonville, and the remains were placed in the cemetery adjoining the churchyard.
