From newspaper clipping forwarded by Member #47288548:

Mrs. J. R. Kay died at her home in Kahoka, Missouri, Sunday afternoon, July 15, at 5:00 o'clock, aged 52 years, 10 months and 7 days.

Addie Seward, a daughter of Pitney and Mary Seward, was born in the state of Ohio, and while yet a child came with her parents to Missouri. In the year 1883 she was united in marriage with J. R. Kay and of this union eleven children were born, three of whom, Robert, Nellie, and Bessie, have preceded the mother to the Great Beyond.

She is survived by her husband, J. R. Kay, and eight children: Mrs. Ellen Wilson of Keokuk, Iowa; D. A. Kay of Kahoka; Mrs. Lora Garrett of near Kahoka; Roy Kay of Donnellson, Iowa; Henry Kay of Farmington, Iowa; Mrs. Daisy Dochterman of Luray; Mrs. Donna Sisson of Luray; and Verl at home; also 23 grandchildren; three brothers, Clark Seward of Wayland and John and Manny Seward of Keokuk, Iowa; four sisters, Mrs. Phoebe Lucas of Revere; Mrs. Katy Toops of Kahoka; Mrs. Lottie Griffith of Bushnell, Illinois; and Mrs. Ellen Reynolds of Wyaconda, besides many more remote relatives and friends who mourn her passing. And yet, all are confronted by the thought that, out there, beyond the sunset and evening star there is light and life, and rest, and peace.

The funeral service was held from the home at 2:00 o'clock p.m. on Tuesday, July 17, and interment was made in Kahoka Cemetery.
