Abbey was the daughter of Ammon Meshach Tenney, Sr. and Anna Sariah Eagar.

Abbey died in St. Johns, Apache County, Arizona Territory.

She died of measles, followed by pneumonia. Her sister, Luella "Lula" Maude Tenney, had died of the same illness twelve days earlier.

Luella's father wrote in his 1888 diary:

".... we had laid away two sweet little girls in the St. John's graveyard:

Born: Abbey Celestia Tenney, July 13, 1876 in Kanab, Kane Co., Utah

Born: Luella Maud Tenney, Oct. 16, 1882 in St. John's, Apache Co., Arizona Terr."
