DOLEZEL MARJORY E. TRAUX Of Cobleskill, New York. Passed away quietly at home on June 4, 2011. She was born at her family home in Charlotteville, NY.
She graduated from Cobleskill High School and went on to nursing school. Marjory joined the U.S. Army in 1941 during WWII. She served in Iceland, France, and England.
In 1945 she was married to John Dolezel. She returned to the states and in 1946 she was assigned to Percy Jones Hospital as chief nurse at the 323rd from 1953 to 1975. She retired from the Army Nurse Corps Reserve in 1975 as Full Colonel.
For 45 years she lived part-time at her home in Royal Oak, Michigan and the other half at her farm in Charlotteville that she purchased from her mother in 1968.
She is survived by one niece, Sheila Karges of Ilion, NY, six nephews, Carleton and Martha Truax of Mayfield, NY, Marshal and Janice Truax of Schylerville, NY, Sherwin and Kathy Truax of Port Charllot, Florida, Larry and Mary Truax of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Sheldon and Patricia Truax of Herkimer, NY and Samuel Truax of Georgia.
A funeral service will be held 7 p.m., Thursday, June 9, 2011 at the E.J. Skinner Co. Funeral Chapel, 155 Main St. in Worcester with the Rev. Keith VanDewerker, retired officiating. A calling hour will be held from 6 p.m. until the service time.
Marjory's final resting place will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
Contributions may be made in memory of Marjory to the National Society D.A.R., 1776 D St. NW, Washington, DC 20006.
