I will so miss you Uncle Bob. You were my favorite uncle. I will never forget your smile and that twinkle you always seemed to have in your eyes. I only wish that I could have known you longer. One of my favorite memories will be at the lake last summer on the jet ski. I felt like I was riding a bucking bull! I love you. Hey, If you see my Grandmothers tell them I said "hello!: ;)

Released by the company that he worked for - Ajinomto Group

We would like to express our deepest sorrow over the passing of Dr. Robert G. Bursey, former President of Ajinomoto Corporate Services LLC (Washington DC).

Dr. Bursey joined Ajinomoto group 15 years ago, after already distinguished career in the US food industry. Until October 2011, Dr. Bursey was instrumental in managing regulatory and scientific issues in North America and supervising several critical projects that enabled placement of our products on the market.

Over years, Dr. Bursey has proactively interacted with the Tokyo head-office on diverse regulatory and scientific issues in the field of sweeteners, enzymes, amino acids and food additives and helped to strengthen the global character of Ajinomoto regulatory and scientific affairs. Dr. Bursey's first scientific article was published 37 years ago (Am. J. Vet. Res. 1975 36(6):795-798) and his last article, in which defended the safety of Ajinomoto product, was published as recently as September 2011 (Am. J. Clin. Nutr. 2011 94(3):958-960).

Dr. Bursey also held various prominent positions in industry associations in the USA and worldwide, such as the Glutamate Association, Toxicology Forum, FEMA, IFT, and the Calorie Control Council. Until the last moments, Dr. Bursey has mentored our experts and remained deeply involved with emerging food issues.

I am expressing my respect and gratitude to Dr. Robert G. Bursey for his contributions and deepest condolences to his wife Betty and daughters Heather and Tara. May he rest in peace.
