Rutha F. Caldwell, 88, of Las Cruces, NM entered eternal life on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at Country Sunset Assisted Living in Hatch. Rutha was born on September 30, 1923 in Stamford, Texas to Ollie D. and Cecil Williams Cooper. Mrs. Caldwell retired from the Gadsden Independent School District as a school bus driver. Those left to mourn her passing include a daughter, Ollie Berry and her husband, Richard of Las Cruces; three sons, Larry A. Penny of High Rolls, NM, Cecil A. Penny and his wife, Phyllis of Dewey, Arizona, and William L. Caldwell Jr. and his wife, Dee of T or C, NM. Other survivors include eleven grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Rutha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Caldwell; a daughter, Anita Faye Jones; a grandson, James G. Griffith; a sister, Montez Nowlin and two brothers, Oral D. Cooper and William Cooper.
Visitation for Mrs. Caldwell will be held on Monday, February 13, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in Baca's Funeral Chapels. A Graveside Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Anthony Cemetery with Pastor Larry Henson officiating.
