Hiram C. Bridgewater, aged 85, died at his home at 221 East Laurel street, at 11:40 o'clock Monday night after an illness of one week.
Mr. Bridgewater was born in Washington county on November 16, 1840, the son of Mr and Mrs Samuel Bridgewater. On February 10, 1915, he was married in Seymour to Mrs. Louis Thomas, his fourth wife.
In addition to membership in the Trinity Methodist church in this city, he was affiliated with the Masonic and Odd Fellows orders. He was also a Knight Templar, Scottish Rite and a Shriner.
Mr. Bridgewater was a member of the G.A.R. He served as a private in Company F, 66th Indiana Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War. He was enrolled August 3, 1862 and was discharged June 3, 1865.
Surviving are his wife, one daughter, Miss Ollie Bridgewater of Jeffersonville and one son, Hiram C Bridgewater of Tampa, Florida.
