Marv Flatt, 70, of Orem/Pleasant Grove, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at his home of complications from Mesothelioma. Marv was born January 1, 1941 in Libby, Montana to Harold and Ada Snyder Flatt. He married Cathleen Maxine Nelson on June 11, 1960 in Clarkston, WA.
Marv grew up in Libby and attended schools there. He spent his married life in the Pleasant Grove/Orem area where he and Cathy raised their three children. Marv and Cathy owned and operated Parts Unlimited, an auto parts store and machine shop, in Pleasant Grove for 23 years. He loved being outdoors, camping, fishing, and traveling with family and friends. Marv enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and teaching them card games.
He is survived by his wife Cathy; three children: Debbie (Carry) Anderson, Cedar Hills; Steve (Tammy) Flatt, Lindon and Polly (Gaylan) Taylor, Peoria, AZ; ten grandchildren and 1 ½ great grandchildren and a sister Janice (Jim) Norgaard, Moscow, ID.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Olpin Family Mortuary Chapel, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove. Family and friends may attend a viewing Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the mortuary and on Tuesday one hour prior to funeral services. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
