Funeral services for Margaret Marianna Lang Nelson, 84, of Richland, WA, were held October 9, 1990 at the Riplinger Funeral Home in Spokane, WA, with the Rev. Moss of the Church of God officiating, followed by burial in the Greenwood Memorial Gardens at Spokane, WA. Pallbearers were her six grandsons, Stephen McLinden, John Richards, Joseph Richards, LaVerne Richards, Larry Richards, and Robert Richards.
Mrs. Nelson died Saturday, October 6, 1990 in a Richland hospital following an extended illness.
She was born July 14, 1906 to Christian and Rosa "Gygi" Lang at Elkhart, IN. She moved with her family at an early age to Missouri, then later to Hillsdale, WY. Her family lived on a farm where she learned to ride horses across the Wyoming prairies.
She taught rural school for five years before her marriage to John Richards in 1930 in Greeley, CO. They moved to Flint, MI in 1936, where John worked at the automobile factory. In 1941, Margaret moved to Noxon, MT with her children.
She worked in the school lunch room, Noxon cafe and for the McKee Mercantile Store. She and Frank Korey were married in 1945. Margaret was active in the Methodist Church and the Ladies Aide.
She lived in Spokane from 1960 to 1979, where she met and married Reeves Nelson. She was member of the Church of God of Spokane. After Mr. Nelson's death, she moved to Richland, WA, where she resided in the Luther Senior Center.
Survivors include a son, Larry Richards, and wife, Betty, of Richland, WA; daughter, Carol McLinden, and husband, Pat of Spokane, WA; a son, Robert Richards, and wife, Rose Marie, Spokane, WA; son Tom Richards and wife, Kiyoko, of Prosser, WA; daughter-in-law, Ethel Richards of Noxon, MT; brother, Frank Lang of Carpenter, WY; 15 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, John Richards, in 1986.
The family suggested memorials be made to the Luther Senior Center, Richland, WA.
