DEATH OF SAMUEL FAIRCHILD.
On Tuesday evening Harvey Fairchild of this village received a dispatch announcing the death of his father. The announcement was entirely unlooked for as Mr. Fairchild had been in reasonable health for some time. At this writing the cause is not known but it is supposed that a paralytic stroke was the direct means, as Mr. Fairchild received a severe shock about three years ago the effects of which be never entirely overcame. He was born in Bennington, Vt., Aug. 30th, 1801. At the age of 6 years he moved with his father to Cortland where he lived until 1835 when he came to Dansville. He has lived here ever since and at the time of his death, Sept. 9th, was visiting his son Lionel at Warren, Pa. His remains were brought to Dansville last evening and the funeral services will be conducted today at 2 o'clock at the residence of Harvey Fairchild, Main street.
