Catherine Bertha Waldum,94,of Sioux City,died Friday,March 30,at a Sioux City nursing home.Services will be 1:30p.m.Tuesday at Morningside Lutheran Church.Burial in Graceland Park Cemetery.Catherine was born Feb.18,1907,in Grant Twp,Plymouth County,Iowa,daughter of Carl & Elizabeth(Westhoff)Ahrendt.She was baptist and confirmed in Lutheran faith.Graduating from LeMars High School in 1926.She attended Western Union College and received a teaching certificate.She taught in country school in Plymouth County.She married Fred D.Onken on Feb.1,1934.They resided on the farm.1950 she moved to Sioux City and owned and operated the East End Cafe.She married John Waldum on Nov.26,1955.He died Dec.1,1972.She was employed at T.S.Martin for several years until retirement.She was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church and actived in the church circles.She enjoyed flower gardening,crocheting and painting.Survivors are,a daughter,Marilyn & Elmer Karley of Sheldon;two grandchildren,Kathy Brooks,and Bryan Karley;two great-grandchildren;stepdaughter-in-law,Dorothy Waldum of Worth,Fla.;stepson,Orville Waldum of Greenfield,Wis.;stepdaughter,Dorothy Jacobs of Calif.;three stepgrandchildren.She preceded in death by two brothers,Herbert and Carl Ahrendt;four sisters,Mary Binneboese,Sophia Zieger,Lousie Kruse;Ida Petersen;daughter,Betty in infancy;granddaughter,Rebecca Jo.Karley;stepson,John Waldum Jr.
