James Harold Hayden, Jr., 67, died at 11:10 AM Tuesday [July 23, 1991] in his Lafayette home, following ill-health for a year. Born Jan. 18, 1924, at Indianapolis, he lived in the Lafayette area most of his life and was a graduate of Jefferson High School. He married Mary Jane McLaughlin on April 26, 1947, in Lafayette; she survives.

Mr. Hayden was a truck driver for Peerless Wire Goods for 13 years. Before that, he worked for Conoco Oil. He served in the Navy during World War II. He attended Congress Street United Methodist Church, and was a member of Eagles Lodge, Aerie 347, Lafayette.

Surviving with his wife are two sons, David L. Hayden of Lafayette and Allen Hayden of Findlay, OH; a sister, Mrs. Betty Maxine Slagle of Lakeland, FL; and six grandchildren.
