Waddington: Harry P. Ballou, 81, Waddington, died in the A. Barton Hepburrn Hospital, Ogdensburg. on Tuesday, May 18, 1965.
Surviving are his wife, Frances Fisher Ballou; one daughter, Mrs. Joseph J. (Betty) Doelger; two grandsons, Harry J, and Peter P. Doelger and a granddaughter, Susan R. Doelger, all of Waddington.
Harry P. Ballou was born Oct. 9,1883 at Chase Mills, a son of Levi and Elizabeth Power Ballou. He had one brother, Levi Ballou, who died in 1939. He attended the Chase Mills Grade School, then went to work for Nowland and Tuttle general store in Chase Mills. He and his brother, Levi, purchased the store and stock and the firm was known as the Ballou Bros General Store. He was appointed postmaster of Chase Mills and served 30 years, in conjunction with operating the store. He sold the store to Claud A.Willard in 1946 and Mr. Willard was appointed postmaster.
The Ballou family purchased the Sidney Cole home on the Riverside, one mile east of Waddington. Mr. Ballou worked for the Waddington Milk Company for a few years.
Burial will be made in Brook side Cemetery in Waddington.
