MRS. NANCY JOHNSON
Nancy Margaret Stewart was born on Nov. 21, 1857, in Polesky County, Kentucky. In 1865 they moved to Nodaway County, Missouri, where they lived until fall, at which time they moved to Platte County, Mo.
In October, 1878, she moved with her family to Jefferson county, Kansas, settling in south of Oskaloosa. She moved to Winchester in 1881, to care for her grandfather. Here she remained until October 5, 1887, at which time she was married to Curtis Johnson.
She united with the Christian Church near Smithville, Mo., in 1877, and soon after coming to this community she place her membership with the Christian Church of this place. Here she remained a faithful member in attendance as long as her health permitted and a loyal member unto the end. She also was a charter member of our present Ladies' Aid.
She was a member of the Eastern Star lodge of Winchester for some 10 or 12 years.
Her husband preceded her in death on March 5, 1921.
After some two years and three months in her bed she departed this li9fe on August 26, 1934, at 3 o'clock in the afternoon, at the age of 76 years, 9 months and 5 days.
She leaves to mourn her departure one sister, Mrs. Ella Hurd, of Lawrence, Kan.; three brothers, G. D. Stewart, of Salina, Kan.; John H. Stewart, of Archie, Mo., and E. C. Stewart, of Leavenworth, Kan. Also several nieces and nephews and a host of friends who will miss her presence.
Funeral services were held at the Winchester Christian Church Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 28, 1934, at 2 o'clock, George W. Caughran, minister,k officiating. Burial in the Winchester cemetery.
