His funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Agatha Catholic Church in Howard with inurnment in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Howard.
Visitation will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Friday at Willoughby Funeral Home in Howard, and at the church Friday beginning at 6 p.m. with a 7 p.m. scripture and rosary.
Donald Claire Adler was born Feb. 5, 1924, near Howard to George and Clara (Schnee) Adler. He grew up in the area attending St. Agatha School, before enlisting in the Army in 1942 during World War II. After his discharge he returned to Howard.
He married Mavis Stalheim at the church rectory in Howard on Aug. 26, 1947. He was a mechanic and trucker for numerous years. His wife died Nov. 22, 1998. He was a member of St. Agatha Catholic Church, Nels Pederson American Legion Post No. 145 Howard and the Howard VFW. He was an avid Twins fan.
He is survived by four children, Larry (Lynn) Adler of Lennox, Judi (Roger) Bartscher of Mitchell, Diane Adler of Sioux Falls, and Jerry (Karna) Adler of Howard; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Leland Adler of Howard; a sister, Ethel Bohr of Howard; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mavis; and three sisters Lorraine, Audrey and Gloria.
