Freda was a housewife and a very good cook. Her name was spelled Frieda and Freda. She met her husband while doing housekeeping for his mother. Louise Schroeder said she was a very good person. Mary (wife of Donald Wedding) said she was hard to get along with. Mary went there only once. Freda cried when Don (her son) went into the Marines because he was sent so far away. When Don was young, he set fire to the barn while smoking, his mother was away shopping at the time. The barn burned to the ground. It was the hottest day in July. Don was never punished for it. Ernie (her son) was her favorite. She didn’t want her sons to marry. Clarence (her son) had a girlfriend she was very interested in. They were planning on getting married. While he was in the service, his mother kept calling the girl giving her a hard time. When Clarence came back the girl wouldn’t talk to him. Clarence never married. Freda always liked going places and on vacations with other people. When Pete (her son) and his wife were first married they went on a trip and didn’t ask Freda to go along, she was very upset. She loved to fish. Freda rules the house. She wouldn’t talk to Alma (her daughter) for a year because she cut her hair. Evelyn (Ernie’s wife) could do no wrong in her eyes. Evelyn once lived with Freda. Evelyn took a lot of pictures and other things to the dump. After Clarence died and the furniture was being divided, Donald wanted to buy the china cabinet from Pete because he got so many spankings because of it. After Freda died son Clarence lived in the home and after Clarence Pete lived in the home. Then Pete’s son Bill lived in the home. There had been a member of the Wedding family living in this house for about 100 years.
