Mr. Murphy was a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls area and attended local schools. Don, as he was known by family and friends, was a graduate of the first class of Lewiston-Porter High School. He later attended Brockport College. Mr. Murphy served as a Sergeant, in the United States Marine Corps, from February 6, 1956, until his honorable discharge on February 5, 1962. While serving, Don was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. For many years, he was self-employed as a construction worker. Mr. Murphy was a talented carpenter. Don enjoyed working in his yard. He was a "Jack-of-all-Trades."
Mr. Murphy is survived by three children, Daniel Murphy of Buffalo, NY, James Murphy of Niagara Falls, NY and Kathleen (fiance Edward Frey) Murphy of Niagara Falls, NY; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Don is also survived by one brother, David Murphy of Ohio and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Robert Murphy.
