Dorothy L. Carter, 89 of Rochelle, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012 at OSF Hospital in Rockford, IL. She was born on May 11, 1922 in Reynolds Twp, IL to John J. and Marie A. (Kosbab) Meirath. Dorothy married Paul J. Carter on June 6, 1942 in Oregon, IL and they farmed together. He preceded her in death on May 30, 2003 and was also preceded by her parents and brother: Harold. Dorothy enjoyed bowling for over 50 years and was the first woman in Rochelle to be in the Bowling Hall of Fame. She also was employed by Ron's Food Market prior to retiring. Memberships include Faith Lutheran Church.

Survivors include daughters, 5 grandchilden, 3 step grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 11 step great grandchildren, and 8 step great great grandchildren.

Services will be held at Unger-Horner Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Dow at 2:00 PM on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 PM prior to the funeral service on Saturday. Burial at Ashton Cemetery. Memorials to Faith Lutheran Church.
