Berwin D. Thompson, 63, of Stratford, died on Monday, November 30, 1987 at his home. He had been in failing health for one year.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 3, at the First Baptist Church in Stratford with Rev. Dale Kelley and Rev. Dennis Schoolfield officiating. Burial was in Oak Wood Cemetery.
Berwin Duane Thompson, son of Lester and Marie Carpenter Thompson, was born May 8, 1924 in the Bells Mill area. He attended schools in the Stratford area.
On February 9, 1943, he married Alice Nemechek at Bethany, Missouri. He was a self-employed truck driver and was a contract carrier working in various areas of Iowa.
Survivors are his wife; five daughters and one son - Barb (Mrs. Loren) Scott of Stratford, Bonnie (Mrs. David) DeCoursey of Des Moines, Larry Thompson of Ankeny, Cheryl (Mrs. Walt) Mills of Des Moines, Linda (Mrs. Alan) Carlson of Dyersville, Lora (Mrs. Steve) Phillips of Stratford; 22 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty (Mrs. Garnet) Silvey of Stratford.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
