He was married first to Elnora Ennis who predeceased him having 2 daughters, Blanch and Edith Brown. He next married Lela Mackey who predeceased him, having 2 children, Waldron (Newt) and Virgina Brown. He married Carrie Bowman Porter later in life. John Brown was a farmer and teacher living on the Mackey farm west of Vienna.
