Jesse was born in Virginia about 1801 to Rev. Robert Manly and Elizabeth Hamilton. He married Susan Woolf in Muskingum Co. on Feb. 18, 1826. They had a least 4 children: Eliza Ann, Edith, Robert Woolf, and Samuel H.
